Virgin Money has appointed a former Bankwest manager to head up its third party distribution team.

Christian York has spent more than 14 years in financial services, with extensive experience in mortgage aggregation business development. He was most recently third party distribution state manager at Bankwest.

Since its launch just under two years ago, Virgin Money’s home loan portfolio has reached more than $1.2billion in settlements via a national network of more than 4,300 accredited mortgage brokers in partnerships with AFG, PLAN, FAST, Connective, Aussie and Choice.

Virgin Money’s general manager, lending, cards and deposits, Johnny Lockwood, said the appointment reflects the strategic importance of mortgage brokers to the company’s ambitions.

He said, “Virgin Money is a partnership-based business and one of our key priorities is forging strong relationships with mortgage brokers to deliver great outcomes for our customers.

“Christian will work with our national business development team to continue the rapid growth of our home loans business. Christian brings with him an extensive track record of performance, particularly in third party distribution and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Speaking about the new role, York said he was excited about the brand’s vision and commitment to delivering propositions for brokers and customers.

He added, “Virgin Money’s unique value proposition has been embraced by customers and mortgage brokers alike. We are strongly committed to the broker channel and I look forward to working with the Virgin Money team and with our partners to enhance and extend our proposition.”
