An aggregator group has grown its team through the appointment of a new state manager for Victoria and Tasmania.

Mortgage Choice welcomed Margie Cannizzo aboard from yesterday, 1 September, to head the recruitment efforts, development of the franchise teams and overall business growth in both states; she will report to general manager of distribution David Zammit.

“Margie brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to the role, having worked in the financial services sector for over 18 years,” Zammit said.

“She has held a variety of leadership, sales management and business development roles which have seen her responsible for establishing and executing on business development, sales and marketing strategies.”

Prior to joining Mortgage Choice, Cannizzo spent time as both the state manager for wealth management and a broker business development manager at Citi; before that, she served in a number of capacities at ANZ, acting as sales manager for ANZ Pacific, business development manager and sales and training manager.

“Margie has a strong understanding of the mortgage broking industry, having seen first-hand the valuable contributions brokers make to Australian borrowers in her roles as broker business development manager at CitiBank and ANZ,” said Zammit.

For her part, Cannizzo expressed “delight” over joining the “iconic Australian brand”.

“Victoria is home to the second largest housing market in the country and I believe there are significant opportunities to leverage the strength of the market to grow our footprint while supporting existing franchise owners to grow their businesses,” she said.

News of Cannizzo’s appointment follows shortly after Mortgage Choice welcomed new head of franchise recruitment, Jerome Smith, to the team. Smith is responsible for driving the further growth of the group’s franchise network as the brand looks to grow with a “new generation of talent”.
