The president and CEO of a leading non-bank was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list over the long weekend.

After 35 years of industry leadership and innovation, the Australian government has recognised La Trobe Financial’s Greg O’Neill for his contribution to business and finance.

O’Neill was also recognised for his impact on elite-level Australian basketball and for his honorary role as current chairman of the Australian Basketball Players Association.

The OAM is granted only to outstanding Australians who have had a significant impact on their community and beyond.

O’Neill’s leadership and “people first approach” at La Trobe has led the non-bank to reach $7.8bn in assets under management.

The 380-strong team at La Trobe are “deeply proud” of their CEO’s accomplishment.

When announcing the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, Governor General Sir Peter Gosgrove said, “If ever you see someone with an Order of Australia medal, or see an Order of Australia post-nominal after their name, to recognise that the person is extraordinary and has served their community and nation."
