The Australian Mortgage Awards 2023 (AMAs) celebrated the  industry’s top performers in a night of glitz and glamour on Friday.

Hosted by Australian comedian and TV personality Merrick Watts, more than 700 brokers, lenders, aggregators, and BDMs gathered at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on October 13 dressed to impress, and guests danced the night away with band and event sponsor Song Division after the award ceremony.

Key Media runs the industry's most prestigious awards event, with support from Australian Broker and Mortgage Professional Australia. Westpac was the event partner for the 14th consecutive year.

The 2023 awards featured 25 categories and two major awards.

Jean-Pierre Gortan (pictured above far left), managing director of Simplicity Loans & Advisory, was given the ultimate honour, named the Westpac Australian Broker of the Year.  This award recognises the most outstanding mortgage broker in Australia.

Gortan also received the La Trobe Financial Top Commercial Broker of the Year award.

Christian Stevens from Shore Financial (pictured above second from right) won the FBAA Broker of the Award – Residential.

Kim Bui (pictured above second from left), from Lending Hub Co. won the Adelaide Bank Young Gun of the Year while Mohit Lal Pradhan (pictured below), from Home Loan Experts won Equity-One Broker of the Year – Productivity.

In terms of the brokerage awards, Empower Wealth Mortgage Advisory took the top honour, winning the prestigious Liberty Australian Brokerage of the Year after winning the Commonwealth Bank Brokerage of the Year (Over 20 staff) award earlier in the night.

The national brokerage of the year award recognises the most outstanding brokerage operation in Australia.

Bayside Residential & Commercial Mortgages won MFAA Brokerage of the year (1-5 staff) while Specialist Mortgage won the Resimac Brokerage of the Year (6-20 staff) category.

The Australian Lending & Investment Centre won the PRPTY 360 Brokerage of the Year – Diversification award while Loan Market Geelong City made it a regional clean sweep (after the brokerage’s Liz McRae won NAB Broker of the Year – Regional), winning ANZ Brokerage of the Year - Regional.

Entourage Mornington was named Bankwest New Brokerage of the Year.

The judges couldn’t split the difference between Birdie Wealth and Home Loan Experts, so they were both crowned the winners of the Gateway Bank Best Customer Service from an Individual Office.

The 2023 Australian Mortgage Awards: a night for sponsors

While the guests made the night one to remember, the 2023 Australian Mortgage Awards would not have happened without the support of our event sponsors.

Organised by Key Media and supported by Australian Broker and Mortgage Professional Australia, the Australian Mortgage Awards again had the backing of event partner Westpac.

NAB and PRPTY 360 are premium partners, while FINSTREET is the VIP post awards event sponsor, and Fifo Capital is photo booth sponsor and Maxiron Capital, the social media sponsor.

Other sponsors include Adelaide Bank, ANZ, Bankwest, Bluestone Home Loans, Commonwealth Bank, Equity-One, FBAA, Firstmac, Gateway Bank, Hays, La Trobe Financial, LBH, Liberty, MFAA, Mortgage Choice, OnDeck, Pepper Money, PropTrack, Q2, Rate Money, Resimac and ubank.
