The third National Finance Brokers Day (NFBD) was celebrated across Australia on 15 August, to help raise awareness around the advantages of using a finance broker.

In Sydney, the day was marked with an afternoon seminar, hosted by NFBD founder and Suncorp BDM, Dino Pacella.

Addressing almost 100 finance professionals who attended the event, Pacella said, “When I first joined the third party channel  five years ago, I was overly surprised by how many people still weren’t aware of the full service proposition brokers bring to the Australian market and I wanted to do something about it. As well as having this day it’s a continued lead up throughout the year to really highlight the advantages, as well as the full service proposition, these finance professionals bring throughout the market.”

Pacella was joined by three leading industry personalities who all took the stage over the 90 minute event. Janine Leafe, director of Informed Loans advised brokers on their unique proposition while Siobhan Hayden, COO of Hasching shared advice on customer experience and business building.

Mark Bouris, executive chairman of Yellow Brick Road, spoke about the current climate and revealed details of a new group he has co-founded to unite brokers, the Mortgage Industry Forum.

Founded in 2015 by Dino Pacella, NFBD is celebrated on the third Wednesday of August every year and this year took on an added dimension in light of the royal commission and the recent Productivity Commission report.

Pacella said, “NFBD is now in its third year but I feel this is an important one given we are seeing the financial services industry going through a royal commission. I feel that it also goes to further highlight the professionalism, integrity and the real advantages that brokers can bring to consumers.

“I’m a strong believer that every consumer has the right to seek strong professional advice when it comes to seeking out a loan requirement. Taking out credit is a serious transaction and having a professional in your corner certainly goes a long way to ensuring the right structure and product are in place,” he added.

The Sydney event was live streamed via Facebook and can be viewed via the NFBD Facebook page  or by following the tag #NFBD
