A regionally owned and operated community bank has created two new executive positions and removed its chief digital officer role following the departure of a longstanding leader late last year.

Rob Hale left Regional Bank Australia after two years at the CDO position and more than a decade at the bank, when it was known as Community Mutual Group.

“We have taken the opportunity to make several refinements to the organisational structure due to Rob leaving,” David Heine, Regional Australia Bank CEO, told iTnews. “These changes include creating the chief information officer and chief product officer roles. Chris Stace will take up the CPO position; however, we have chosen to look at outside candidates for the CIO role.”

The CDO role will no longer exist.

Regional Australia Bank is now on the hunt for a new CIO, who will lead and manage the bank’s IT security and compliance, supervise and oversee its core banking and lending technology.

The new CIO will report to Heine, iTnews reported.
