A 27-year ANZ stalwart has been appointed non-executive director of the boards of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, ANZ group chairman Paul O’Sullivan has announced.

The appointment follows the recent establishment of a non-operating holding company (NOHC) structure to separate ANZ’s banking and certain non-banking business into two groups.

Graham Hodges (pictured above) joined the two boards, after an additional non-executive director role who was not director of the NOHC (the newly listed ANZ Group Holdings) or the ANZ Non-Banking Group was created as part of the NOHC restructure.

Hodges currently serves as chairman of aged care company Regis Healthcare, and as director of housing developer and community manager Assemble Communities.

Prior to his retirement from ANZ in 2018, Hodges had a successful 27-year career at ANZ, holding a variety of senior positions, including deputy CEO for nine years. He also worked across most areas of the bank, including stints as ANZ’s CFO, head of HR, head of operations and CEO Australia.

From November 2005 to May 2009, Hodges was CEO of New Zealand and director of ANZ National Bank, responsible for the running of ANZ Group’s NZ business.

Hodges’ “extensive banking experience and knowledge of ANZ will complement these boards and I am confident he will provide valuable service to the ANZ Banking Group as we begin operating under this new NOHC structure,” O’Sullivan said.
