This year's Australian Mortgage Awards (AMAs) are fast approaching, and if you haven't locked in your hotel room yet, consider this a friendly warning.

The Australian mortgage industry’s biggest night of the year is now less than five weeks away, with the event taking place on Friday, 16 October at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney. The annual celebration recognises the achievements and standout contributions across the industry over the past 12 months.

Guests will have the chance to network, raise a toast, collect a trophy (fingers crossed) or simply dance the night away. But with tickets to the event almost sold out, hotel rooms are expected to be in high demand as well.

Attendees are encouraged to book a hotel room at the event locale now before it's too late. The discounted room rates are available for 60% less than the standard rate at $300 a night.

What to expect at the 2026 Australian Mortgage Awards

Widely regarded as the Oscars of Australia's mortgage and finance sectors, the AMAs shine a spotlight on the individuals, organisations and achievements driving the sector forward. Each year, the event brings together the industry’s leading voices and key stakeholders — from brokers, lenders and aggregators to brokerages, BDMs and service providers — for an unforgettable night dedicated to celebrating excellence, recognising outstanding achievement and honouring those who have made a significant impact over the past 12 months.

More than an awards night, the AMAs are a chance to connect with the people shaping the future of the industry, celebrate the successes of the past year and recognise the businesses and individuals setting new benchmarks for excellence.

"What I like about attending the AMAs is that it's formal and a set opportunity to stop and celebrate the success that we've had as a business, and the growth and innovation that we've had as a brand," Nathan Smith, founder and broker at New South Wales-based Birdie Wealth, told Australian Broker. "It's also a great opportunity to catch up with some of the leading brokerages from across Australia that we otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to catch up with in person."

Smith, a past AMA award winner, added that the Australian Mortgage Awards stand apart from other awards programs across the industry

"Sometimes awards are a bit polarizing," he explained. "You get a lot of loud voices online saying that awards are self-nominated and you shouldn't attend. But from my perspective, as a business owner and as a broker, there are a lot of long, hard days, and we're often looking at ways in which we can improve and areas in which we need to be better. The AMAs are a way to stop and celebrate the success that we've had and the growth we've had in our business."

The Australian Mortgage Awards are produced by Key Media and presented in partnership with Australian Broker and Mortgage Professional Australia (MPA).

Winners will be revealed on the night of the event, at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney's Grand Ballroom, 1 Martin Place, Sydney. Networking and drinks begin at 7 p.m. The awards program and three-course meal begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in their sharpest black tie attire.

The 2026 event includes Australian singer and actress Kate Ceberano as the feature act, with Emalia Jane, aka DJ Em, supplying the tunes, and Australian TV presenter and author Andrew Daddo as MC.

The official event partner is Westpac. Premium award partners include Brighten and Liberty Financial.
