Lendi Group has officially opened its new Sydney headquarters at Bay 14, South Eveleigh, taking over 3,054 sqm across three floors inside the heritage Locomotive Workshop precinct. The move marks a significant step for the Australian fintech platform as it scales its operations and deepens its focus on what it calls its Find, Buy, Own ecosystem.

The opening comes under the leadership of co-founder Sebastian Watkins, who took on the CEO role from 1 January, replacing co-founder David Hyman, who remains on the board as a director and special adviser. Watkins framed the milestone in characteristically direct terms.

"In our first year, Lendi settled $50 million in home loans. Now, we do that every few hours. That says a lot about how far we've come, and it's exactly why this chapter matters. Bay 14 reflects the scale of the business we've become and the ambition of where we're heading next," he said.

Built for brokers and partners, not just staff

The space has been designed with the broker channel front and centre. Beyond accommodating the NSW-based team, Bay 14 functions as a dedicated hub for brokers, buyer's agents, and partners — a place for collaboration, training, and key business moments.

The fit-out includes dedicated broker facilities, varied work zones, screen-based meeting rooms, focus rooms for video calls, and a multi-function event space for town halls and partner sessions. Also on site is a podcast and creative studio.

Reflecting on the design intent, Watkins said the space was built to support that trajectory.

"We've built this space around performance, connection and scale, with dedicated training and event capability, technology-enabled spaces, and the kind of environment that supports new ways of working as we deepen our focus on AI and continue expanding our Find, Buy, Own ecosystem," he said.

From laneway garage to landmark precinct

For Watkins, the move also carries personal weight.

"When Dave and I started Lendi 13 years ago, it was four of us in a tiny office off a laneway in Pyrmont, basically a garage. And somehow, that little space helped shape the culture we're still proud of today," he said.

South Eveleigh's Locomotive Workshop — one of Sydney's most significant industrial heritage sites — provides the backdrop. Mirvac general manager of asset management Kate Beech welcomed the addition, noting Bay 14 demonstrates how heritage spaces can be "thoughtfully reimagined for contemporary businesses." The fit-out was delivered by Hammond Studio and True Fit.
