The NAB Foundation has awarded $600,000 in community grants to 25 organisations across Australia, helping local groups strengthen their disaster resilience and recovery efforts.

The funding supports a diverse range of projects, including emergency relief accommodation for First Nations communities in cyclone-prone areas, and campsite equipment for volunteers responding to floods in Western Queensland and New South Wales.

This philanthropic funding aligns with a broader shift in Australia’s resilience agenda. The federal Disaster Ready Fund has allocated $200 million for resilience and risk-reduction projects in 2025–26.

Supporting communities before, during, and after natural disasters

NAB retail executive Paul Carter (pictured) acknowledged the critical role local groups play in disaster recovery, especially in the months and years following a crisis.

“After a natural disaster strikes, the recovery can take months, or years, and it is the tireless work of local community organisations that keep it going and help these areas get back on their feet,” Carter said.

“These grants will continue to support local groups in their efforts to prepare for and recover from natural disasters, ensuring they have the resources needed to make a real difference. Our goal is to help local organisations build a sustainable future, ultimately benefiting the entire region.”

Part of NAB Ready Together Initiative

The NAB Foundation Community Grants program is part of the bank’s NAB Ready Together initiative, which helps customers, colleagues, and communities withstand and recover from natural disasters.

Each year, NAB Foundation allocates $1.2 million in funding through two rounds of community grants. Since 2021, over $5.2 million has been distributed to 395 community-led projects across Australia.

The next grant round will open for applications in August.
