One of the property industry’s most impactful career development programs has returned to Sydney, marking a decade of progress in advancing women into leadership roles.
The Property Council of Australia’s 500 Women in Property program celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, with the NSW cohort launching at a special event at the Ivy Ballroom in Sydney.
Property Council NSW executive director Katie Stevenson (pictured) said the program had become a powerful vehicle for change, with more than 5,500 women participating in the program nationally since it began.
“Ten years ago, this started as an ambitious idea. Today, it’s a national network of advocates, allies and industry leaders helping to shape a more inclusive property sector,” Stevenson said.
“The impact goes well beyond the 500 women who participate each year, it’s about lifting up the whole industry by investing in female talent and leadership. By combining individual sponsorship with structured development and networking opportunities, the program continues to drive real impact for women and organisations alike.”
This year’s program includes a virtual masterclass series, professional networking opportunities, and access to bespoke learning resources.
Participants will also receive digital accreditation through digital credential network Credly, in recognition of their involvement and development throughout the program.
500 Women in Property is driven by the Property Council’s diversity, equity, and inclusion committees and is specifically designed to accelerate women into leadership by connecting high-potential talent with sponsors who can open doors, build confidence, and expand networks.
Participation involves a personal commitment from sponsors – women and men – to actively champion a woman in their organisation or professional sphere.
Sponsors advocate for their participants, raise their visibility, and support their career growth by helping them access new opportunities and meaningful industry exposure.
“The support of our national program sponsor The GPT Group has helped create a thriving national movement with real momentum for change,” Stevenson said.
“Whether you’re a participant, sponsor or alumni, 500 Women in Property is an invitation to step up, support others and be part of something bigger.”
The Sydney launch event brought together participants, sponsors, and industry leaders to mark the milestone year and kick off the FY26 program. Minter Ellison has also played a huge role in supporting this program as the venue host across the country.
Designed to build confidence, boost visibility and expand networks, each participant is championed by a sponsor who opens doors to career opportunities and provides meaningful support.
“We face a critical need to attract and retain talent across the property and construction sector, so programs like this aren’t just good for participants, they’re essential to our industry’s productivity and long-term success,” Stevenson said.
“500 Women in Property is about investing in the future women leaders and making sure our industry is equipped for the challenges ahead.”
